According to recently adopted legislation in Hungary, as of 1 July 2018, the invoicing software of Hungarian taxpayers will be required to have a direct data connection with the Hungarian tax authority in order to report sales invoice data in real-time. This liability will apply to Hungarian business to business (B2B) invoices in which at least HUF100,000 (approx. €320) value added tax (VAT) is charged.

No upgrade or update is required. All required objects are shared via single transport.
The government has provided users with a web page called online invoice system to check all the information and to be able to get ready for this new system (RTIR).
The format required for sending the invoice data is XML.
- Taxpayers are obliged to provide within 24 hours invoice data for domestic transactions with a minimum VAT amount of HUF 100,000 (320 EUR). The billing program must be able to detect invoices meeting reporting requirements, i.e., minimum VAT amount.
- Failure to report the invoices in real time mode may attract an administrative penalty of up to HUF 500,000 (EUR 1700) per invoice.
